A quick look at where the St. Louis Rams stand following the first round of the 2011 NFL draft:
Selected: Robert Quinn, DE, North Carolina
Picks remaining: six
Biggest needs: Receiver, defensive tackle, outside linebacker
Comment: Drafting a receiver in the first round became impractical when the Atlanta Falcons gave up five picks, including two first-rounders, for the right to select Julio Jones sixth overall. The Rams don't need to force a receiver selection in the second round, but if the value lines up, they would be wise to find another weapon for quarterback Sam Bradford. The challenge would be finding a receiver talented enough to differentiate himself from the injury-affected bunch already on the roster. Taking a receiver just to take one isn't the answer. I could see the Rams going in multiple directions in the second round. They need a starting outside linebacker. They could use a defensive tackle. They could use a guard. Their secondary could use reinforcements, particularly at safety.
