Mike Jurecki, Dan Bickley and I discuss NFC West matchups and storylines each Friday afternoon on XTRA Sports 910AM in Phoenix.
This is a new weekly arrangement. They've made available the audio from our conversation heading into Week 1. We're all anxious to get the regular season going. Next week should be fun with new ground to cover.
With young offensive lines getting so much attention in Seattle and San Francisco, I noted that the Cardinals' veteran line could be better prepared in the short term. Arizona is the only team in the league with zero offensive linemen drafted in the first four rounds of the last four drafts. As a result, the team has veteran starters and veteran backups.
The Seahawks and 49ers can feel better about their long-term potential on the line, but the Cardinals have more game experience. I'll be interested in seeing whether or not that helps them early in the season. They've got a tough matchup in Week 1; Carolina Panthers defensive end Charles Johnson had 11.5 sacks last season, including one against the Cardinals. He also knocked the 49ers' Alex Smith from the Carolina-San Francisco game.
