Halloween is a little early to be calculating magic numbers for clinching NFL division titles, but here goes.
The San Francisco 49ers, at 6-1, would clinch no matter what with six victories in their final nine games. That would get them to at least 12-4. Second-place Seattle, at 2-5, can finish no better than 11-5. The bar will almost certainly be lower for the 49ers, of course.
The chart shows how the 49ers could clinch the NFC West by Nov. 20 (Week 11). They would get to nine victories under this scenario. Their division rivals would max out at eight.
