Actual blog entry on Cardinals, Rams

Pickings have been a bit slim for St. Louis Rams and Arizona Cardinals fans while Matt Flynn and Alex Smith dominate NFC West headlines.

A couple colleagues are here to help.

Matt Williamson of Scouts Inc. has an Insider pieceInsider Rams fans should enjoy.

Williamson thinks the Rams are perfectly positioned with the sixth overall choice in the 2012 draft. I've wondered whether the Rams will be able to acquire the playmaking help they want and need, particularly at receiver. But Williamson takes a longer-range view and explains why St. Louis can feel great about its first-round choice even if Oklahoma State receiver Justin Blackmon is not available.

The San Francisco 49ers also get strong consideration from Williamson in this piece.

Separately, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Early Doucet has reached agreement with the Cardinals on a two-year deal. Doucet was the team's top threat on third down last season. Arizona didn't need to create any additional holes at the position. Bringing back Doucet seems like a logical move.

Doucet set career highs last season with 54 receptions for 689 yards and five touchdowns.
