It's looking like Aldon Smith might be wise to alter his social life in the interests of his career and overall wellness.
Less than six months after incurring drunken driving charges in Miami, the San Francisco 49ers' talented outside linebacker incurred injuries during an incident, this one near the team's headquarters, which left two other people shot and one stabbed.
We do not yet know whether Smith has done anything wrong. We can safely say he has put himself in dangerous situations. This time, things reportedly got out of hand at a "large house party" in Santa Clara.
The stakes are especially high for Smith, given the lifestyle afforded NFL players with the ability to collect sacks the way Smith did as a rookie (14 in 2011).
It's time for Smith to reassess before he's associated with something more serious.
"[We] are aware that Aldon Smith incurred minor injuries during an incident last night," a 49ers statement said. "We are in contact with Aldon and thankful that his injuries were not more serious and that he is recovering comfortably. The 49ers are also in communication with local authorities as they gather information regarding the incident, and will reserve further comment at this time."
