Seahawks release receiver Mike Williams

Renton, Wash. -- The Seattle Seahawks have released wide receiver Mike Williams, the team announced this afternoon.

Williams was originally the 10th overall pick in the 2005 NFL draft by the Detroit Lions and signed as a free agent with Seattle on April 16, 2010. He also spent time with Oakland and Tennessee during the 2007 season.

He started 23 of 26 games with Seattle, compiling 83 receptions for 987 yards with five touchdowns and a long of 68.
