710ESPN Seattle audio: In like ... Wilson

The drive from Flagstaff to Phoenix included a pit stop for some quarterback talk with Kevin Calabro and Jim Moore on 710ESPN Seattle.

They've posted the audio.

At issue: the potential risks and payoffs associated with Pete Carroll's decision to give rookie quarterback Russell Wilson first-team reps at Matt Flynn's expense in the Seattle Seahawks' third exhibition game, set for Friday night.

I'm reminded of the comment Arizona Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt made when asked in June for a target date to have his team's quarterback competition settled. Two years ago would have been the preferred timetable, Whisenhunt quipped.

Followup questions to consider: How preferable is the quarterback situation in Seattle to the one in Arizona? Has the tendency to overvalue the unknown -- in this case, Flynn and Wilson -- created a distorted view?
