Trufant returns to practice; Williams cut

Cornerback Marcus Trufant resumed practicing with the Seahawks for the first time since a back injury sidelined him before training camp.

Trufant remains on the physically unable to perform list, but the Seahawks are expected to activate him for their Week 8 game at Dallas.

Getting Trufant back on the field will significantly upgrade the talent in the secondary if Trufant is healthy. But as coach Jim Mora noted recently, Trufant hasn't practiced in the new defense, so there could be an adjustment period.

Linebacker Leroy Hill was also back at practice for the Seahawks.

On the roster front, Seattle released left tackle Kyle Williams, who had been forced into the starting lineup Sunday after spending much of the season on the practice squad.

Williams is eligible to return to the practice squad. The Seahawks cleared a spot on the eight-man squad by releasing guard Mark Lewis.
