Hasselbeck: 'Ridiculous' to count out Seahawks

Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck punctuated the Seahawks' final practice of their bye week by suggesting the team is down, definitely not out:

"I've heard people say that the season is over, we've got no chance. That's ridiculous. For us as a team, this is an opportunity for us to pull together and prove people wrong, but it’s also an opportunity where you’ve seen teams in the past, point the finger at each other, maybe whisper and doubt the plan that the coaches have put forth. Mentally, we’ve got to rise above all that stuff. It would be easy for us to make excuses about whatever, but what’s important is that we just block that stuff out and just continue to work hard and just stay together."

I thought beating the Jaguars and Cardinals at home was close to essential for the Seahawks. My preseason projection had them losing three of their first four games after the bye. That stretch features a home game against the Lions and road games against the Cowboys, Cardinals and Vikings. The team would be 3-7 if that projection held. Seattle would then have to beat the Rams, 49ers, Texans, Bucs, Packers and Titans just to reach 9-7.
