NFC West rises as Clemons wins, too

Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald is the NFC's offensive player of the week.

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Chris Clemons won the weekly honors for defense.

Imagine that: NFC West teams collecting both honors without any help from the San Francisco 49ers. Fitzgerald had nine receptions on nine targets for 114 yards and a touchdown during a 27-6 victory over Philadelphia. Clemons had four of the Seahawks' eight first-half sacks against Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers.

Winning games enables individual honors.

NFC West teams are 6-0 at home and 7-3 outside the division in 2012. No other division has a higher winning percentage in non-division games. That total includes two controversial endings. A clock operator in Detroit gave the Lions additional time in Week 1, allowing them to preserve a timeout for use during their winning drive. Then there was the officiating madness from the Seattle-Green Bay game on Monday night.
