2011-12 Gore YPC by Direction/Opponent
Gore is coming off a 131-yard game against Seattle. He continued playing after a hit from Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner bruised his ribs. The 49ers won the game, 13-6.
The chart shows Gore's yards per rush by direction and opponent since Jim Harbaugh and Greg Roman took over the 49ers' offense.
Gore had 34 carries for 160 yards over two games against the Cardinals. Those games were in Weeks 11 and 14, when Arizona was playing better defense.
Thirty-three of the 34 carries came against the Cardinals' base defense or short-yardage defense, according to ESPN Stats & Information.
A few quick notes on those 34 carries:
Running left: 11 carries for 28 yards. Ten of the 11 runs gained four or fewer yards. The longest run was an 8-yarder. Calais Campbell generally lines up on this side.
Running middle: 11 carries for 78 yards and a touchdown. Gore had gains of 37, 14 and 12 yards up the middle. The 37-yarder came after the Cardinals lost nose tackle Dan Williams to a season-ending injury.
Running right: 12 carries for 54 yards. Four of the 12 runs to the right gained at least eight yards, with a long run of 20 yards on these rushes.
The Cardinals, though strong on defense overall this season, allowed 153 yards rushing to Minnesota's Adrian Peterson in Week 7.
Peterson carried 14 times for 85 yards up the middle and eight times for 68 yards to the left. He carried once for no gain on runs to the right. All but one of his carries was against base personnel.
