All four NFC West teams are kicking off at 10 a.m. Pacific time in Week 13.
This doesn't matter much for the St. Louis Rams, who live on Central time. Arizona does not observe daylight-savings time, so the Cardinals' body clocks should read 11 a.m. for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff against the New York Jets.
The San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks have 10 a.m. PT kickoffs listed as noon starts in the Central time zone. The 49ers are 1-1 in 10 a.m. PT games this season after going 5-0 in them in 2011. Seattle is 0-3 in such games this season, claiming its lone road victory at Carolina in a game that kicked off at 4:05 p.m. ET.
Kickoff times do not decide games by themselves, obviously. But if you've lived on the West Coast and traveled across the country, you know there's a price to pay. Western teams would rather kick off later (see Scott Kacsmar's piece for details).
With that in mind, let's move forward to predictions for Week 13. A 1-2 record last week dropped me to 25-12 for the season when picking games involving NFC West teams.
Seattle Seahawks at Chicago Bears, 1 p.m. ET It's striking that a rookie third-round quarterback has become the least of the Seahawks' worries. Russell Wilson has been just fine. But with the Seattle defense springing late-game leaks, it's tough to trust the Seahawks to fully capitalize on clear advantages against Chicago's offensive line . Sando's best guess: Bears 23, Seahawks 20.
San Francisco 49ers at St. Louis Rams, 1: The Rams are 3-0-1 inside the NFC West and 1-6 against everyone else. They're assured a winning record in the division. I'm thinking the 49ers defense will enjoy better success against the Rams this time than last. However, the Rams have 51 points in their last two games against San Francisco. Sando's best guess: 49ers 23, Rams 20.
Arizona Cardinals at New York Jets, 1: The Cardinals are going to win again, I promise. Picking when it will happen? Forget about it. I thought Arizona's defense might be able to pull one off against St. Louis last week, but with Ryan Lindley throwing two pick-sixes, there was no chance. Sando's best guess: Jets 17, Cardinals 13
