Kaepernick, Wilson vs. same four defenses

Starts vs. Rams, Bears, Dolphins, Patriots

Colin Kaepernick and Russell Wilson look nothing alike physically.

Kaepernick is rangy and 6-foot-4. Wilson is compact and not quite 5-foot-11.

It's much tougher telling these emerging NFC West quarterbacks apart on the stat sheet in starts against four common opponents this season. Both players have started against the St. Louis Rams, Chicago Bears, Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots. Both players played very well against every one of those opponents except the Rams.

The chart shows their stats as starters against these common opponents.

I've had fun putting together similar common-opponent charts comparing Wilson to fellow rookies Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III (Luck chart here, RG III chart here).

With Kaepernick's San Francisco 49ers visiting Wilson's Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, this is a good time to size up both quarterbacks in the same post. ESPN Stats & Information took a separate look on its blog.

It's looking like these quarterbacks will be matching up in the division for years to come.

Wilson has more NFL playing experience. Kaepernick has an additional full season in the league. A look at how they've fared as starters against the same teams seems like a pretty good way to compare them so far.
