The 49ers are sticking with J.T. O'Sullivan in Week 8 after coach Mike Nolan suggested the team would revisit the issue after that quarterback's latest turnover-laden performance.
Nolan could be coaching for his job this week. This might not be the best time for him to begin breaking in a new quarterback, particularly when Shaun Hill and Jamie Martin are the alternatives. It's not like he's got Steve Young on the bench.
If the 49ers changed quarterbacks this week and still lost to the Seahawks, what then? O'Sullivan might give the 49ers their best chance at winning even with all the turnovers. Hill apparently hasn't shown enough to get a chance just yet.
Martin, 38, hasn't started a regular-season game since 2005. There's no way Nolan can sell Martin as the solution at quarterback. If O'Sullivan isn't the answer, Nolan might not have one.
