Live from NFC West blog headquarters

Ten quick notes heading into Week 12 games involving NFC West teams:

  • Those seeking instant fame and status still have time to predict scores and outcomes correctly.

  • Brian Burke of Advance NFL Stats has the Seahawks, Titans and 49ers as most likely winners in NFC West games. Seattle and Tennessee held only slight edges, however.

  • I'm spending a regular-season Sunday at home for the first time since Oct. 18 (Cardinals at Seahawks) and the second time all season. Join me for in-game conversation right here.

  • ESPN's Tom Jackson, speaking on NFL Countdown this morning, singled out Rams receiver Donnie Avery for making a conscious effort to distance himself from his misguided celebration against the Vikings.

  • My 5-year-old son had not been born the last time the Rams beat Seattle.

  • The pressure is on the Seahawks, not the Rams, in this matchup.

  • The 49ers' pass defense is struggling, but San Francisco might have chances to pick off Jaguars quarterback David Garrard. I thought Garrard was careless with the ball a few times against the Bills last week.

  • Keep an eye on rookie linebackers Aaron Curry (Seahawks) and James Laurinaitis (Rams). Curry was picked a lot higher, but he's been struggling some.

  • ESPN's Chris Mortensen said he thinks Mike Holmgren wants a new challenge, rather than pursuing a return to Seattle in a front-office role. Mortensen mentioned the 49ers, Bucs and Browns as possibilities. That makes me wonder if someone has told Holmgren a return to Seattle might not be a likely option.

  • Kurt Warner seemingly has a chance to have a big game against the Titans, who have allowed 19 pass plays of at least 30 yards this season. Only the Chiefs (20) have allowed more.

Enjoy your Week 12.
