Roided-out NFC West rosters: Updated

Posted by ESPN.com's Mike Sando

A trick question to test your divisional knowledge on a May Saturday: Which veteran head coach has led teams in three of the four current NFC West cities?

Hint: He's a current head coach.

Answer: Arizona State's Dennis Erickson, formerly of the Seahawks and 49ers. ASU is in Tempe, as is the Cardinals' headquarters.

The thought came to me when I was updating the 26-category NFC West rosters, which are available for download here. Erickson's name appears on the 49ers' and Seahawks' worksheets, showing how many of his draft choices remain with each team.

Twelve current NFL players entered the league under Erickson:

Three more are unrestricted free agents (most recent teams in parenthesis):

Your Memorial Day Weekend Saturday is now complete.

Erickson's predecessor in Seattle, Tom Flores, has one draft choice remaining in the league, and a good one: Titans center Kevin Mawae.

Flores' predecessor in Seattle, Chuck Knox, has two draft choices remaining in the league: Isaac Bruce of the 49ers and John Kasay of the Panthers.

Knox was coaching the Rams when they drafted Bruce in 1994. He was coaching Seattle in 1991 when the Seahawks drafted Kasay.

No player drafted before Kasay remains on an NFL roster.

That would change if Junior Seau returned. He is an unrestricted free agent.
