First drive not bad for Sam Bradford

ST. LOUIS -- Sam Bradford is looking good so far during his NFL exhibition debut Saturday night.

The No. 1 overall draft choice threw completions for first downs on his first two third-down plays. He tossed a 9-yard completion on another play, then took a hit after the ball was out. The drive has stalled pending the Rams' challenge of a spot, but overall, Bradford has not disappointed.

Bradford is working against Minnesota Vikings backups, but his own offense is also missing key starters, including Steven Jackson.

The Edward Jones Dome crowd gave Bradford a loud ovation when he ran onto the field to lead a drive for the first time. There were more loud cheers when Bradford completed those third-down passes. He appeared decisive and in command.

The Rams' challenge was denied, by the way. Bradford completed 4 of 6 passes for 39 yards with an 84.7 passer rating on his first drive.
