Injury report: Gonzalez, Douglas miss practice

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez was missing from the practice field for the second consecutive day after suffering a toe injury in last Sunday's loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Gonzalez typically addresses the media on Thursday during open locker room, but he was unavailable this time. Players not participating in practice are not allowed to speak with reporters.

It will be interesting to see if Gonzalez returns to practice Friday. He hasn't missed a game since the 2006 season. He was noticeably hobbled after injuring a toe on his left foot against the Seahawks.

"I would never count Tony Gonzalez out," Falcons coach Mike Smith said. "Never. Tony didn't practice today. Hopefully, he'll get out here tomorrow and do some things for us."

Also missing was wide receiver Harry Douglas, who was not on the injury report Wednesday. Douglas was spotted during open locker room and appeared to be dressed to practice. But the injury report indicated he had a knee injury, an injury that must have surfaced on Wednesday.

That would mean all three of the Falcons' top receivers have missed practice time due to injury this season. Julio Jones is out for the season following foot surgery while Roddy White just recently returned to the lineup after missing three games with hamstring and ankle injuries. White was limited again Thursday coming off a shoulder injury.

Rookie defensive end Malliciah Goodman was sidelined for the second consecutive day Thursday with a calf injury.

Running back Jason Snelling and defensive tackle Corey Peters were on the practice field with helmets after sitting out Wednesday. Snelling said he aggravated a knee injury he believes he suffered earlier in the season. Peters injured a knee as well, but hasn't missed any game action. Peters, Snelling, and defensive tackle Peria Jerry (toe) were all limited.

Linebacker Sean Weatherspoon (foot) and running back Steven Jackson (toe), both limited during Wednesday's practice, had full participation on Thursday. That means Weatherspoon, who was just activated from injured reserve, is set to play against Tampa Bay this Sunday after being sidelined since Week 2 with a Lisfranc sprain.
