Dolphins practice report: Grimes returns

DAVIE, Fla. -- The Miami Dolphins wrapped up their final preparation for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.

Here are several notes from Friday’s practice:

  • Miami long snapper John Denny was not present at practice. The reason is unknown, but we should get clarity on Denny’s status this afternoon. Miami does not have a backup long snapper listed on its roster.

  • The good news is starting cornerback Brent Grimes returned to practice Friday and had a spring in his step. Grimes missed Wednesday’s practice because of a groin injury. He participated in individual drills open to the media and looked fine. All indications are Grimes expects to play Sunday against the Bills.

  • Miami backup running back Daniel Thomas (ankle) and Paul Soliai (ankle) were limited in the portion open to the media. Thomas returned to practice for the first time this week.

The Dolphins will travel to Buffalo on Saturday in an attempt to split the season series. The Bills beat the Dolphins in Week 7.
