It appears as if the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are targeting their biggest need at the start of free agency.
Brad Biggs reports that the Bucs are making a hard push for Cincinnati defensive end Michael Johnson. Teams can begin signing players Tuesday afternoon, and Johnson would make plenty of sense for the Buccaneers because he’s considered one of the top defensive ends in this year’s crop of free agents.
The Bucs had only 6.5 sacks from their defensive ends last season and want to improve their outside pass rush. Johnson, 27, had 3.5 sacks last season, but had 11.5 in 2012.
