Jaguars Camp Report: Day 12

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A daily review of the hot topics coming out of Jacksonville Jaguars training camp:

  • The Jaguars held a short walk-through on Thursday in preparation of Friday’s preseason opener against Tampa Bay at EverBank Field. The players didn’t wear helmets and nothing was done at full speed. Coach Gus Bradley said it was a mix of what would be a normal game-week Friday and Saturday workout.

  • The Jaguars declared seven players out for Friday's preseason opener against Tampa Bay and two other players will be evaluated before the game and might not play, either. None of the players that won't play are surprises: linebacker J.T. Thomas (hamstring), running back Toby Gerhart (hip flexor), tight end Brandon Barden (illness), tight end Clay Harbor (calf), receiver Tandon Doss (ankle), receiver Allen Robinson (hamstring), and receiver Cecil Shorts (hamstring). Cornerback Alan Ball (ankle) and safety Sherrod Martin (groin) will be evaluated during pregame warm-ups before a determination will be made on whether they will play.

  • With Gerhart out, Bradley said Jordan Todman will start at running back, followed by seventh-round pick Storm Johnson and Denard Robinson. All will get significant reps. That doesn’t leave much work for rookie Terrance Cobb, but he will get a chance to play on special teams.

  • Receiver Mike Brown participated in the walk-through after leaving Wednesday’s practice with hamstring tightness. He said he felt better than he anticipated he would on Thursday morning and participated in the walk-through, at one point leaping high in the air to catch a pass. His plan is to play Friday if his hamstring feels similar to the way it did on Thursday morning.

  • The Jaguars will return to the practice field Monday at 9:55 a.m.
