Wrap-up: Chiefs 13, Bills 10

Thoughts from Kansas City's 13-10 overtime win over Buffalo.

What does it mean: This was one of the Chiefs’ most thrilling games in recent memory. Kansas City should probably have breezed through this game, but instead the Chiefs extended it through five full quarters. Kansas City showed great resiliency and heart and its surprising season continues. The Chiefs are 5-2 and are leading the AFC West.

Tomorrow’s talker: The Chiefs’ offense came alive when it had to. In a little more than a minute, Kansas City drove 54 yards to set up a 35-yard field goal by Ryan Succop at the end of overtime. Succop redeemed himself for missing a 39-yard attempt earlier in overtime. Kansas City quarterback Matt Cassel hit new favorite target, rookie tight end Tony Moeaki, for two big catches and running back Jamaal Charles came up big on the game-winning drive. After not doing much for nearly 74 minutes, Kansas City’s offense got the job done when it had to.

Trending: The Chiefs No. 1 ranked rushing game is special. Charles showed what a tremendous talent he is with 177 rushing yards. Thomas Jones added 77 rushing yards and the Chiefs finished with 274 yards on the ground. Winning teams have success on the ground and Kansas City is proof of it.

What’s next: The Chiefs travel to Oakland for a key division game against the Raiders.
