Around the NFC South: Trying to forget the past

Posted by ESPN.com's Pat Yasinskas

One common theme jumped out as I read the coverage from the NFC South local newspapers this morning. There are a lot of guys out there who are trying to forget the past.

Carolina Panthers

As much as receiver Steve Smith might like to forget some parts of his past, his recent fight with teammate Ken Lucas has brought all of his old troubles back into the spotlight.

Atlanta Falcons

Defensive end Jamaal Anderson is trying to forget a dismal rookie season in which he failed to record a sack.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tight end Jerramy Stevens, whose re-signing outraged many fans, takes blame for his past actions and says it's time to move on.

New Orleans Saints

Safety Kevin Kaesviharn thought he'd be a starter when he signed with the Saints as a free agent last year. That didn't happen, but Kaesviharn looks like he's destined for a starting job this season.
