OAKLAND, Calif. -- Notes and tweets from Pete Carroll's day-after-game news conference Monday produced mixed news for the Seattle Seahawks on the injury front:
Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, sacked eight times and mildly concussed Sunday, is expected to play in Week 9. The Seahawks' ability to keep Hasselbeck healthy through Week 7 came as a surprise, at least to me, once the team lost Okung for an extended period to open the season. Getting him back quickly after taking eight sacks has to stand as a bonus.
Defensive end Red Bryant, a key to the Seahawks' run defense, will miss an extended period with a knee injury. The Seahawks' decision to acquire Kentwan Balmer from San Francisco looks like a wise one right now.
Moss was not placed on waivers Monday, but players said coach Brad Childress told them the move was imminent.
