Seahawks' John Carlson will not return

CHICAGO -- John Carlson suffered a head injury that will prevent him from returning to the Seattle Seahawks' game against Chicago, the team announced.

Carlson leaped to avoid a defender while making a 14-yard reception in the first quarter. Safety Danieal Manning hit Carlson in the legs. Carlson tumbled and landed on his face. Medical personnel loaded Carlson onto a stretcher and removed him from the field on a motorized cart.

Carlson's absence leaves Seattle with Cameron Morrah as its primary tight end. Morrah is more receiver than in-line blocker.
