Heavy fines after Chiefs-Raiders game

I can’t wait until the Raiders and Chiefs spread some holiday cheer on Christmas Eve in Kansas City.

There might be some bad blood to go with the eggnog. There were several pushing and shoving matches in the Chiefs’ 28-0 win at Oakland last week and Oakland coach Hue Jackson had some choice words for Kansas City coach Todd Haley after the Chiefs were throwing the ball late in the blowout.

Now comes the news that there was more than $40,000 in fines doled out by the league for actions in the game.

Kansas City linebacker Tamba Hali was fined $15,000 for roughing the passer. Specifically, on a pass play, he struck the opposing quarterback below the knee area.

Kansas City cornerback Brandon Flowers was fined $10,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct. Specifically, after a touchdown play, he unnecessarily used the football as a prop.

Oakland linebacker Aaron Curry was fined $10,000 for unnecessary roughness. Specifically, on a pass play he struck the opponent late.

Oakland cornerback Stanford Routt was fined $7,500 for unnecessary roughness. Specifically, on a run play, he struck the opponent late and out of bounds.

There is a chance the rematch could mean something in the AFC West race, so this holiday clash could be a real gift to watch.
