Lions, Stafford agree on a contract

Matthew Stafford will be a Detroit Lion.

ESPN reports the Lions have agreed to a record-breaking six-year contract worth up to $78 million with the Georgia quarterback. The deal includes what I believe to be an NFL-record $41.7 million in guarantees.

The deal means the Lions will select Stafford with the No. 1 overall pick Saturday.

I'll be back with analysis in a bit but I wanted to make sure you got the news right away.
