Rex Ryan needs 'more time' for QB call

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan isn't ready to name his starting quarterback for next week's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars just yet.

Ryan says all three quarterbacks -- Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow and Greg McElroy -- are a possibility. But Ryan needs to talk to his assistant coaches and study film of his opponent.

"I just want to make sure that I get all the facts and everything else," Ryan said during his Monday news conference. "It's a big decision. Obviously, the decision has to be made in what gives us the best opportunity to beat Jacksonville."

Ryan has until the end of the week to make this call, and he most likely will take his time. Ryan said he wants this to be an "open discussion" within the organization, although the head coach has final say.

Tebow's situation could come down to health. Ryan says he doesn't think Tebow is 100 percent.

There may also be an element of gamesmanship against Jacksonville. Waiting to make this decision will force the Jaguars to prepare against all three quarterbacks. If Ryan named his starter Monday, Jacksonville could focus on that specific quarterback during the week.

"Well, I got three good quarterbacks and I feel good about three quarterbacks," Ryan said. "I think we are in a better situation than a lot of teams."
