Jets' Tony Sparano still standing

"Black Monday" has claimed plenty of head coaches, assistants and general managers around the NFL. But we have yet to hear word on New York Jets offensive coordinator Tony Sparano.

What's the holdup?

Sparano reportedly will be one-and-done after struggling mightily in his first year as New York’s offensive coordinator. The Jets were ranked 30th in total offense and 28th in scoring. Also, former first-round quarterbacks Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow both regressed in New York on Sparano’s watch.

Jets head coach Rex Ryan cancelled his usual Monday press conference. Chances are, he was not ready to answer questions on the future of his coaching staff, most notably Sparano. Could Ryan be having second thoughts with his offensive coordinator?

The Jets must continue to move forward. They made the right decision to fire general manager Mike Tannenbaum on Monday.

New York must replace Sparano sooner than later if it wants to get its much-maligned offense headed in the right direction.
