Perhaps San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick should order hats from the Chicago Bears, Arizona Cardinals, Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons to go with the one he famously wore from the Miami Dolphins.
Look, I'm with those of you who've had enough mad hatter chatter, but if we're going to feature what one high-profile teammate is saying in criticizing Kaepernick's headwear, it's only fair to feature what another high-profile teammate is saying in support of his QB. Especially when that teammate speaks as logically as Aldon Smith was speaking during a "First Take" appearance Wednesday (see video above).
Smith joked that Kaepernick could wear hats associated with the teams he racks up rushing yards against. I suggest expanding that to cover the teams San Francisco defeated with Kaepernick in the lineup. Own a team on the field and you're qualified to wear their hat away from it. Seriously, though, this has to be the final hat-related item until ... another high-profile 49ers player says something intelligent on the matter.
"In the game, he's not throwing up Miami Dolphins signs," Smith said. "He plays for us, he plays hard for us and whatever he does, he is dedicated to what he does. He can wear a Chicago Bears shirt, it's fine. As long as he is dedicated to what he does and he does a great job on the field and is dedicated to his team and is a leader to us, that's all that matters."
Cue the video for Smith's refreshing take.
