Revis could make debut next week

Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Darrelle Revis could get his first game action in Week 3 of the preseason.

The Bucs are so pleased with how Revis is recovering from knee surgery that they’re considering playing him in the Aug. 24 game at Miami, general manager Mark Dominik told ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio on Tuesday.

"You don't want to push," Dominik said. “You want to stick with your plan. But we may want to get him on the field Week 3 of the preseason, get a few series in, get it over with, get it out of his head, so that Week 1 in New York he's ready to go."

If Revis does play against the Dolphins, I’d expect it to be only for a short period. The main goal for the Bucs is to have Revis at full strength for the Sept. 8 season opener against the New York Jets.
