Buccaneers get down to 75 players

TAMPA, Fla. -- Just about 24 hours after signing Mike Shanahan (not to be confused with the head coach of the Washington Redskins), the Tampa Bay Buccaneers released the rookie tight end.

Shanahan was one of a handful of cuts the Bucs announced Tuesday afternoon as they got their roster down to the required 75 players. They also waived receiver Terriun Crump, wide receiver Chris Denton, guard Adam Smith and defensive back Branden Smith and released tight end Zach Miller.

The team also released linebacker Jacob Cutrera with an injured designation. If Cutrera clears waivers, he’ll revert back to Tampa Bay’s injured reserve list.

Teams must have their rosters down to 53 by Saturday afternoon.
