TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Bay wide receiver and team captain Vincent Jackson doesn’t speak to the media all that frequently, but he did on Friday and he had some strong words.
“There’s no disarray in this building,’’ Jackson said.
The appearance has been otherwise, with multiple reports citing friction between coach Greg Schiano and quarterback Josh Freeman and players not liking the coach’s methods.
But Jackson said there aren’t any issues and the Bucs, who are off to an 0-2 start, can get back on track.
“We know what we have to do,’’ Jackson said. “We know the team we are. We haven’t closed off two games. But there’s a lot of football left and we’re excited about that.’’
Schiano gave a similar answer when asked about his mindset after two close losses.
“We have good players, proven methods, good schemes, good coaches,’’ Schiano said. “So when you have all those components and you’re doing things the right way, it will turn. Everybody who’s been in competitive athletics goes through some stretches where you wish it were better, if you have the components. Now, you’re kidding yourself if you don’t have the components, then you’re just wishing. But I know we have the components. We just have to stick to our guns and it will turn.’’
