A weekly examination of the Packers’ ESPN.com Power Ranking.
Preseason: 5 | Last week: 5 | ESPN.com Power Ranking since 2002
The Packers have not been in first place in the NFC North yet this season, and for the first time they’re not the highest-ranked team in the division in the ESPN Power Rankings. The undefeated Chicago Bears (3-0) finally surpassed the Packers (1-2) in the voters’ minds. The panel must still view the Packers as a playoff team because they rank fifth overall among NFC teams. However, it’s worth noting that among the six voters, the Packers received a wide range of votes, from seventh and 16th.
The Packers made the third-largest drop in the rankings this week, falling seven spots and out of the top 10 for the first time since Week 6 of the 2012 season. Only the Houston Texans, who dropped nine spots from No. 4 to No. 13, and the Atlanta Falcons, who dropped eight spots from No. 6 to No. 14, fell further down the rankings. The Packers aren’t likely to make much of a change in the next poll because they have their bye this week.
As always, you can rank the teams yourself.
