Jags shouldn't even try to run up the middle

NASHVILLE -- I'm confused by the Jaguars' philosophy in the early part of the fourth quarter.

The Titans have stuffed them all day -- they've got 28 yards on 14 carries. And the middle of the D has been especially stout.

Why on a crucial second-and-3 from Tennessee's 46-yard line did the Jaguars give the ball to Maurice Jones-Drew and have him try to find something up the middle? It produced an entirely predictable loss of a yard on another series that led to a punt.

Still, the Jags are getting the ball back with 9:07 left and down only 10-7. They'd be wise to avoid anything that calls for a run up the gut.
