SAN DIEGO – Philip Rivers was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week after throwing for 401 yards and three touchdowns in San Diego’s win over Dallas last week. It’s the second time in three weeks that Rivers has won the award.
In Week 2, Rivers earned the award by completing 36-of-47 passes, with three touchdowns and no interceptions for a passer rating of 124.3 in the road win at Philadelphia.
Before that, Rivers had not won the award since 2008. For the season, Rivers has thrown for 1,199 yards, 11 touchdowns and just two interceptions. His 118.8 passer rating is second in the NFL to Peyton Manning (138.0).
