Mayo to IR; Neblett re-signed

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The Patriots announced that linebacker Jerod Mayo has been placed on season-ending injured reserve.

Mayo, who left Sunday's win over the Saints in the fourth quarter, underwent surgery for a torn pectoral muscle on Tuesday.

"He does a lot for us, on the field, off the field. We're just going to have to move on," Bill Belichick said Wednesday morning, before previously saying he's spoken extensively about Mayo's impact in the past.

The Patriots also announced the re-signing of defensive tackle Andre Neblett.
