Ravens promote RB Fitzgerald Toussaint

The Baltimore Ravens promoted running back Fitzgerald Toussaint from the practice squad Saturday, an indication that running back Lorenzo Taliaferro might be inactive against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Taliaferro, a rookie fourth-round pick, is considered questionable after not practicing all week because of a foot injury. Offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak didn't hide his concern earlier this year when the Ravens played a game with only two healthy running backs. Now, with the promotion of Toussaint, the Ravens have three running backs (Justin Forsett and Bernard Pierce are the others).

Toussaint was active for only one game this season (Week 3 at Cleveland) but he didn't play. Taliaferro is third on the Ravens with 323 yards rushing, and is tied for third with four special teams tackles.

To make room for Toussaint, the Ravens placed offensive lineman Jah Reid on injured reserve with a hand injury. Reid, third-round pick in 2011, has only been active for four games this season. This could be Reid's last time on the Ravens' 53-man roster. He never lived up to expectations and is a free agent at the end of the season.

The Ravens now have 13 players on injured reserve.
