Things to know: Game 1 Devils-Rangers

Helping out Lundqvist: The New York Rangers gave their Vezina-nominated netminder a big hand by blocking 25 shots in Game 1, leaving 21 saves for Henrik Lundqvist. Marc Staal and Dan Girardi led the way with five blocked shots each, followed by Ryan Callahan, Ryan McDonagh and Anton Stralman, who each had three.

Just not enough: Martin Brodeur played well, making 25 saves and carrying a shutout into the third period, and the Devils controlled the game for sustained stretches, but it still wasn't enough to come away with a win against a dominant Lundqvist.

Offensive defenseman: Girardi scored the game-winner 53 seconds into the third period, just his second goal of the postseason.

Raves for the rookie: At 21, Chris Kreider scored a power-play goal to pad the Rangers' lead in the middle of the third. Nice response from a rookie who was limited during the Rangers' second-round series against the Capitals.
