Before Tuesday, the Kings’ last regulation loss in that circumstance was a 2–1 defeat at Phoenix on April 2, 2009. The Kings’ 95-game streak was the second-longest current skein of its kind entering play on Tuesday, behind the Capitals’ 102-game streak.

FROM ELIAS: Martin Brodeur, who posted a 2–1 victory over the Islanders in the Devils’ season opener, made it two wins in two games this season with a 3–0 shutout against the Flyers on Tuesday. The shutout was the 120th of Brodeur’s NHL career, extending his own league record, but it’s only the third time that he’s registered a clean sheet in one of his first two games of a season. He notched a shutout in his first game in both 1995–96 and 2006–07. Brodeur’s shutout on Tuesday night was his 10th regular-season whitewashing of the Flyers, matching his highest total against any team. He’s blanked the Islanders 10 times as well.
