FROM ELIAS: Jordan Staal scored his first goal for the Hurricanes at the 1:21 mark of the second period in Carolina’s game at Toronto and his brother, Eric, scored exactly nine minutes later to give the Canes a 2–1 lead. It was the third time that Jordan and Eric Staal scored goals in the same NHL game and the first time they did so as teammates.
FROM ELIAS: The only other pair of brothers to score goals in the same game for the Hartford/Carolina franchise was David and Wayne Babych, who did so twice for the Whalers in the 1985–86 season. Before the Staals, the most recent first-timers on the list of NHL brothers scoring goals as teammates in the same game were the Canadiens’ Andrei and Sergei Kostitsyn on Jan. 31, 2008.

The Parises are the second father/son duo to each score at least 200 goals in the NHL. The other father/son pair to do that, Bobby and Brett Hull, each scored more than 600 NHL goals (Bobby 610, Brett 741).

The other players to do that since the start of the 2011–12 season are Joe Thornton, Patrik Elias, Matt Cullen and Chris Phillips (who scored twice in his NHL milestone game).
