FROM ELIAS SPORTS BUREAU: The NHL schedule has quite a few oddities and one of them was Washington playing all three of its games at Winnipeg within a three-week span this month. That strange schedule proved to be no hindrance to the Capitals, who won 3-0 on March 2 and by 4-0 and 6-1 scores on Thursday and Friday nights. Braden Holtby was the goaltender for Washington in all three of those wins and he allowed only one goal while facing a total of 86 shots on goal. (That’s a 0.33 goals-against average and .988 save percentage if you don’t have a calculator handy.) Holtby hasn’t found other road venues as hospitable as Winnipeg this season. He’s 2–5–0 with a 4.17 GAA and .879 save percentage in his seven road games not played in Manitoba.
