Countdown to July 1: Robyn Regehr debating potential trade to Buffalo Sabres

Will the Buffalo Sabres land veteran blueliner Robyn Regehr from the Calgary Flames?

Regehr was sleeping on it Thursday night, debating whether to waive his no-movement clause and allow the trade, a source told ESPN.com.

We're also told Regehr spoke with Sabres GM Darcy Regier and owner Terry Pegula over the past 24 hours.

The Sabres are hoping to add experience to a young and promising blue-line corps.

Habs keep Markov

Habs GM Pierre Gauthier and veteran agent Don Meehan met Thursday, and clearly the meeting regarding Andrei Markov went well. The two sides concluded a three-year deal for the Russian defenseman worth $17.25 million, $5.75 million on average per season.

The salary is right for a player of his caliber, but the term is surprising given that Markov is coming back after two knee surgeries. Kudos to Meehan, who got his pound of flesh here from the Habs. They took most of the risk here.
