Len, Purvis earn weekly ACC honors

Maryland sophomore forward Alex Len was named ACC Player of the Week on Monday after a career-high 23 point, 12-point performance in the Terps' 72-69 loss to third-ranked Kentucky. The 7-foot-1 Ukraine native shot 10-for-18 from the floor and also recorded four blocks, which tied his career high.

Meanwhile, NC State's Rodney Purvis was named ACC Rookie of the Week after scoring 16 point in his college debut Friday, over Miami (Ohio). Purvis was 6-for-11 from the floor in the sixth-ranked Wolfpack's victory, and made 3 of his 5 3-point attempts.

Sophomore forward James Michael McAdoo (who averaged 22.5 points and 12.5 rebounds in North Carolina's first two wins) and freshman forward Joel James (8.5 points, 6.0 rebounds) were nominated for UNC.
