Forward Isaiah Hicks, who has committed to UNC and is ranked the No. 14 prospect in the ESPNU Super 60 for 2013, is not practicing, and cannot play with his new high school team until he has some eligibility issues resolved.
Hicks, who starred last season at Raleigh (N.C.) Body of Christ Academy, transferred to Oxford (N.C.) Webb High, where he played as a freshman. Webb is waiting for some paperwork before he can play.
“He transferred into our school district this year. We are still awaiting the records from his previous school district to determine his eligibility,’’ said Stan Winborne, the public information officer for Granville County schools. “So right now, he is not playing. When we get the records, that could change.”
Winborne said the school district is following the same protocol as it would for any student.
Hicks, a 6-8, 200-pound forward, committed to UNC in August, and was in attendance Sunday for the top-ranked Tar Heels’ victory over Mississippi Valley State.
