McAdoo doubtful for Saturday's game

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- North Carolina freshman reserve James Michael McAdoo, who sprained his left ankle Wednesday, did not practice Friday.

“It would be a game-time decision, and I would think doubtful,’’ coach Roy Williams said about McAdoo's status for Saturday’s ACC opener against Boston College.

The injury occurred during Wednesday’s practice, when the forward landed on teammate Tyler Zeller's leg after jumping into the air.

McAdoo, a 6-foot-9 reserve, is averaging 6.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 14.5 minutes for the Tar Heels. If he doesn’t play, expect 6-5 senior Justin Watts and 6-9 freshman Desmond Hubert to get more minutes in the post. Starting small forward Harrison Barnes can also play the power forward position, if needed.
