Notre Dame 2012 Top 25 countdown: No. 12

We head into the weekend with a look at arguably the team's best receiver in 2012.

No. 12: T.J. Jones, WR

Making the case: Head coach Brian Kelly said during the season that no player had improved more from 2011 to 2012 than Jones had, and it is hard to argue that point. On an offense alternating quarterbacks for much of the first half of this past campaign, Jones remained a steadying force, tying tight end Tyler Eifert for the team lead in catches (50) while accumulating 649 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Those numbers were way up from 2011, when Jones had 38 grabs for 366 yards in a so-so campaign. Jones was one of the few Irish players to bring his A-game in the Discover BCS National Championship against Alabama, grabbing a team-best seven catches for 90 yards, and he figures to emerge as a leader next season, his final one in a Notre Dame uniform.
