2013 Top 25 Player Countdown: No. 3

Today brings us the offense's most important player.

No. 3: Zack Martin

Previous ranking: No. 5

Making the case: What more can be said about Martin? He will be a four-year starter and likely a two-time captain after passing up on the NFL to return for his fifth season. He is one of the best left tackles in the country, has been the Irish's best offensive lineman for three years running and will likely line up with his little brother, Nick, on the first-team unit this fall. Martin enters 2013 as the unquestioned voice of the offense, bringing a consistency on and off the field every day and setting the example for the rest of the unit. Martin is on the watch lists for both the Outland Trophy (interior lineman) and Rotary Lombardi award (offensive/defensive lineman, linebacker).
