Irish recruiting update

Things have been relatively quiet on the Notre Dame front as it relates to recruiting, especially with a lot of uncertainty right now among the prospects Penn State currently had in the fold or showed strong interest in.

One Penn State recruit who had Notre Dame among his finalists is Armani Reeves, the No. 1 player in the state of Massachusetts and the No. 32 athlete in the nation. He said that his emotions are still "raw" in light of Joe Paterno's firing, and the situation, like many around the program right now, remains uncertain moving forward.

Meanwhile, Ifeadi Odenigbo, the No. 1 player in Ohio, will visit Stanford this weekend for his second official visit. His first official was at Notre Dame.

The 6-foot-3, 212-pound defensive end from Centerville High School will also visit Northwestern, according to our Greg Biggins. USC, which just offered, could be in the mix as well, along with Ohio State and Cal.

And, of course, what would a recruiting update be without uniform talk? The Irish, as we all know by now, will sport their fourth different helmet this season when they face Maryland on Saturday. Brian Kelly said the only people whose opinions matter on the look are those in his locker room, which undoubtedly translates to the recruits watching as well.

From Shanker:

The players and fans are excited about it, and there is no doubt uniforms have an effect on recruiting. Prospects always talk about the jerseys when discussing Oregon, and Maryland received a lot of attention -- good and bad -- about its jerseys. And there is no such thing as bad publicity.
