Mopping up after Stanford

Notre Dame dropped its regular-season finale at Stanford, 28-14, snapping Brian Kelly's streak of consecutive regular-season wins in November and December at 16.

Here are a few more numbers from the contest, thanks to Notre Dame's sports information department:

  • Notre Dame is now 39-56-5 (.415) all-time against AP top-five teams.

  • The Irish outscored the Cardinal 7-0 in the third quarter, raising their season margin in the third quarter to 84-13. They have not given up a third-quarter point in their last five games.

  • Tight end Tyler Eifert had four catches for 79 yards. He now has 57 catches on the season, three more than Ken MacAfee for most in one season by a Notre Dame tight end. He also now has 1,065 career receiving yards, just the fifth Irish tight end to surpass the 1,000-yard mark for his career.

  • David Ruffer's missed 20-yard field goal at the 9:59 mark of the second quarter snapped his streak of eight consecutive made field goals.

  • Manti Te'o and Harrison Smith finished with eight and four tackles, respectively, as each passed the 300-tackle mark for his career. Te'o has 307, tied for eighth-most in school history. Smith has 303, 10th-most in school history.

  • Michael Floyd had eight catches for 92 yards. His 95 catches on the season are a school record, passing Golden Tate's 93. His six-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter was the 36th of his career, which is already a school record and is now in a five-way tie for 17th-most all-time in FBS history.
